The Truth Is Not the Truth

About this book

Khaled Abdel Wahab's The Truth Is Not the Truth is set in Jaywick, an impoverished town on the edge of Essex, England, where the elderly moneylender Isaac Rosenberg is found dead in his burned house. When investigator Arthur Blackwell takes the case, the medical reports show traces of poison, strangulation, stab wounds, a bullet and gas, as if several killers had targeted the same man on the same night. Each new suspect, from debtors to those he ruined, carries a convincing motive, and the confessions and evidence pull in different directions. A psychological crime novel about justice, memory and the poverty that shapes both victims and culprits, it keeps its central surprise for the final chapter. Published in Arabic by Wameed Publishing and Distribution.
