About Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was a Scottish physician and writer who created Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. His career extended beyond detective fiction into historical novels, adventure, supernatural stories and science fiction, including The Lost World and Professor Challenger. Observation and carefully constructed mysteries are central to his best-known stories. His broader output reveals a versatile author whose characters continued to inspire stage and screen adaptations long after his death.
