Ouma

About this book

The desert does not hide the past; it guards it until the moment of return. Soha senses a pulse beneath the apparently empty sands before the ground opens and draws her into Ouma, a city absent from history books yet operating with the precision of a living organism. Clay tablets, temple priests, rival kings, ancient hymns, and monuments stained by the earliest wars collapse the distance between eras. The cuneiform records are not merely texts but hourglasses counting down the city's final breaths. Soha gradually realizes that her arrival was no accident and that she alone may carry a secret capable of unsettling accepted history. Visitor or chosen one, she must decide whether to reopen a gate prepared for her name thousands of years ago.
