The Autumn of Days

About this book

Rabab Helmy Al-Basiony composes poetry from the abrupt absence of her grandmother, who functioned as a parent, shelter, and primary homeland. Published by Egyptian Sudanese Emirati Publishing and Distribution, The Autumn of Days captures heavy, melancholy hours following a sudden departure without farewell. The verses register the bitterness of separation while preserving the scent of memory and the warmth of comforting embraces. Gratitude toward family, friends, a supportive husband, and spiritual figures accompanies the elegy throughout the collection. Gradually, the stanzas direct sorrow toward patience, divine relief, and the enduring nature of sincere affection despite distance.
