No One Chooses Their City

About this book

Published by Egyptian Sudanese Emirati Publishing and Distribution, No One Chooses Their City by Salman Osama Ahmed presents literary fiction centered on lives shaped by conflict. The stories follow specific figures dealing with sudden destruction, including a child counting the dead and a young man trapped beneath the debris of his fallen home. Families recall ordinary evenings that vanished overnight, while a mother encourages her son to drink so his bones might grow strong, and an artist copes with the loss of his arm and vocation from earlier violence. These narratives track displacement, memory, and endurance amid ruined landscapes.
