About this book

Nagah Gad Al-Karim presents a collection of stories centered on the landscapes and communities of Upper Egypt, published by Egyptian Sudanese Emirati Publishing and Distribution. The narratives examine daily existence through characters shaped by rural traditions and socioeconomic pressures. Portraits emerge of female laborers whose youth gives way to exhaustion from agricultural toil, alongside male villagers navigating the constant apprehension of authority and loss. The plots address universal themes of affection, betrayal, devotion to the soil, and friction with established customs. These episodes document bygone eras and personal struggles, capturing the complexities of ordinary survival in a distinct regional setting.
