The Ghost Pirates

About this book

The Ghost Pirates by William Hope Hodgson, translated into Arabic by Fatima Hassan, is a maritime horror novel set aboard the Mortzestus. Through sailor Jessop’s account, an ordinary voyage becomes increasingly disturbing as unexplained shadows and movements suggest that the crew are no longer alone. Strange events gather around ropes, sails and the darkness beyond the ship, leaving the sailors struggling to understand an elusive threat. Hodgson’s detailed knowledge of seafaring gives the story a physical realism that intensifies its supernatural dread. The novel combines isolation and suspense for readers drawn to horror in which danger remains difficult to see and escape feels increasingly uncertain.
