The Plentiful Downpour of the Good Word

About this book

Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya considers remembrance of God as a practice linking speech, inward attention, and righteous action. The book emphasizes the participation of the heart rather than the repetition of devotional words without awareness of their meaning. It connects love of God and reverence for His commands with resistance to heedlessness and inner distraction. Reflections on contentment during hardship and the spiritual significance of good deeds develop its central concern: sustaining a relationship with God through the changing circumstances of daily life.
