And My Country Chants in My Veins

About this book

In the poetry collection And My Country Chants in My Veins by Mohamed Fathy, published by Dar Sayd Al-Khater, the homeland appears as a foundation of identity and a catalyst for complex inquiries. The author employs symbolic imagery and emotional resonance to examine the ties connecting individuals to their land, alongside the resulting nostalgia and internal tension. These texts focus on freedom and selfhood, tracing how nations endure in the consciousness of their people even when that connection carries suffering. Affection for the land intersects with the struggles of an Arab consciousness striving to comprehend its place and belonging.
