Tales from Our Neighbourhood

About this book

Marwan Mohamed presents Tales from Our Neighbourhood, published by Huruf Manthura Publishing and Distribution, focusing on the daily realities of an Egyptian working-class district. A narrator in his early twenties records the lives of local residents across multiple timelines. He concentrates primarily on a figure named Shehata, whose moniker shifts to Shehta depending on the shifting moods of the community. Sidestepping his own autobiography, the narrator gives voice to the people around him and documents their interactions within a modest urban setting.
